Every year from the time I was married I attended a variety of keep fit groups including Yoga but never for more than a year or so. Nearly 40 years ago I became a member of The Women’s League of Health and Beauty (as our organisation was then known)
Fun and friendly classes
Every week we work our way through the various parts of the body. FLexercise teachers always provide varied and interesting classes. The music is varied too which makes the exercises easier to do. Although we try to take the work seriously there are normally one or two giggles each week – sometimes even ‘teacher’ going wrong! The evenings are always fun and although sometimes I have to persuade myself to get up out of the armchair and go I always feel good when I get home.
Jill Shipston, who has been my teacher for a large part of the time has always been very encouraging. I’ve been so lucky as with Jill’s help over the years I’ve experienced performing in The Royal Albert Hall shows. If you ever get the opportunity to perform in a FLexercise show, I’d say go for it!
I’ve had problems with osteoarthritis in both my knees for some years but the exercises we do in class to improve the thigh muscles particularly helped support my knees. However, over the last year or so I have had two knee replacements. The physiotherapist was very impressed with how quickly I coped with the basic exercises he prescribed me. It wasn’t long before he moved me on to stepping exercises and using an exercise bike. This happened earlier than usual but I put my progress down to the years of hard work at FLexercise. I was so happy to be back to my usual classes in 6 weeks.
FLexercise has been more than just an exercise class for me. I have had lots of fun, made good friends and enjoyed social occasions with our group.
